An Earth Day Project

Happy Earth Day to you! I believe that we should reduce, reuse and recycle each day...but it is nice to have a special day to remind us of the importance to do so. I spent a little time today on a quick and easy Earth Day project.

This ceramic shell planter is something I found at a yard sale several years ago. I believe it was 50 cents and since I knew I could use it, I bought it. It has served as a coastal-themed table centerpiece on more than one occasion and, most recently, has been filled with shells as an accent piece in one of our bathrooms. Not long ago, I decided to upcycle it so that I could use it as a planter on one of the nightstands. Armed with gold spray paint that I had on hand (I have a few cans!), I transformed its look and then added a baby airplane plant I recently rooted.

I like the planter's new look and I think the plant will be happy in this sunny spot on the nightstand.

It brings me a sense of satisfaction to reduce, reuse and recycle!
