Farmers' Market

As I took care of the patriotic decorations, I decided my next summer theme would be "farmers' market". I was inspired by the beautiful rooster I received from Christmas from my parents. He became the focal point in the kitchen for this season, so I put him on the island and built a vignette around him. I had the tray, tea towel, antique canning jar and all the faux fruit. The blackberries are in the same teacup of Grandmother's that was previously on the marble top table.

Here is a close-up of the rooster so you can see all of the regal colors in his tail feathers.

Notice the dainty little spoon resting on the teacup saucer? It's replica flatware from the Biltmore Estate and was a birthday gift from my cousin, Kara. We made a trip there with them several autumns ago and loved seeing and touring the lovely grounds and amazing home.

My new theme is just in time for the real farmers' market. Local produce is beginning to appear at our stands around town and it always tastes so good. There is nothing better than fresh vegetables and fruits with dinner.
