A Perfect Gift

Look at the perfect gift I literally found on my doorstep the other day when I took out the dogs.

Isn't it a lovely black tiger swallowtail? Usually surviving two weeks, they sometimes live up to a month. I have to think that this beauty died of natural causes since its body is intact. Butterflies have been enchanting to me since I was small and can remember chasing them as a young child, equipped with my butterfly net and identification guide! The love affair probably began as an infant with my monarch butterfly mobile and stretched throughout several years, even inspiring various butterfly accents in my 1970s brilliant yellow and orange bedroom!

The only imperfection is the absence of the orange spot on the right side.

I'm so happy that this gift came right to me! Such a gorgeous creation is too precious not to keep, so I decided to lightly spritz it with hairspray and display it. Like all presents, it will be enjoyed.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. 🦋
