I am quickly sharing a few patriotic touches to the kitchen. Keep it simple when assembling a seasonal grouping. I believe in using what you have and thinking outside the box. To avoid growing weary of your keepsakes, switch it up! Use items in different places from year-to-year. I used one of my Americana plates (a dollar store find a few years ago) and an eagle I snagged from the office as the anchors. Then I pulled out a few of my star dessert plates and put the Mason jar atop.
I try to use objects of varying heights and, when possible, different textures. I stuck one of my patriotic napkins in the jar and added forks. The eagle is actually lighted, so it gives a good glow when it's dark. See?
My antique chest has an inverted teacup, Uncle Sam, some teabags and a flag salt and pepper combo.
You know that I am a sucker for mismatched vintage dishware, so I decided to fill my shelf with red, white and blue pieces. Again, I just snooped through my cabinet to throw together the shelf. Clusters of odd numbers look best, so I did five on the left and three on the right.
Here's wishing you a pleasant evening!
