Our book club had fun last night. In addition to having met monthly for many years to discuss books, we have all been friends for decades. We are pretty disciplined and select all genres of books to read and discuss. For this month's meeting, though, we decided upon a novel idea to help one of our member's celebrate a new chapter in her life. In a few weeks she will be become a grandma for the first time, so we had a surprise book shower! The friend who hosted this event cleared her buffet so that we could set-up the books we brought for the recipient.
Are these not the most adorable cookies? One of my friends ordered them through the business of someone she knows. I think the detail is incredible!
We hung this wreath outside her front door. It's made of baby diapers!
We also had fruit skewers, pink punch and baby bookworms (sour gummi worms)!
In keeping with the book theme, I made this little clothesline for decoration.
It's really easy to assemble this wreath. The school secretary showed me this idea years ago. Begin with a wire wreath form (available at any craft store and some dollar stores). Place the diaper around the form and cinch it closed with curling ribbon. It took 22 diapers (size 2) for my wreath. I picked-up some baby accessories at the dollar store to glue on for embellishments.
Enjoy your day!
