Did you know that Happy Chocolate Day is celebrated on February 9th each year? With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I guess that means we can begin indulging in the sweet treat now and continue through next Tuesday! 😉
Made from the seed of a cacao tree (the tree and seed are referred to as "cacao" while "cocoa" is the term for the bean after it has been dried and roasted), chocolate is a very good source of antioxidants. I subscribe to the findings that dark chocolate can improve health by lowering the risk of heart disease. Yum! This vintage cocoa powder tin has been around forever.
Have you ever had the pleasure of visiting Hershey, PA? I was first there as a college student and I still fondly recall the chocolatey smell of the town. Back then, the Hershey operation wasn't as commercial as it is today. Still, touring the factory was available and was an enjoyable experience. Hershey products are sold in over 60 countries around the world.
Hershey's Syrup was first produced in 1926 and is delicious not only on ice cream, but in various desserts.
In addition to having chocolate in the spotlight today, it's also National Pizza Day. That means you could have pizza for dinner and then celebrate with a slice of chocolate cake!!
Have a sweet day!
