St. Louis Summer Sunsets

It's getting noticeably darker earlier each evening as the summer days begin slipping away. We enjoy spending time outdoors and always like looking at the sunsets no matter where we are. Here are a few St. Louis sunsets we've recently enjoyed.

The gardens are gorgeous by day, but have a different beauty by night. MO Botanical Gardens' concert series is over for the year, so there are no more extended hours. When we meet friends for evening picnics, though,  we don't leave until it's dark. While we didn't have a good vantage point to actually see the sun slip behind the clouds the last time we were there, we still had spectacular evening views. The lily ponds host vibrant glass Chihuly balls which shine in the glow of nightlights as darkness begins to overtake daylight.

I love the orangey-pink hues encasing the yellowish clouds in this sunset captured over the St. Louis Muny stage. The treetops peek above the top of the stage props and the white lines you see are trees which were painted on the backdrop for Fiddler on the Roof. We snapped this photo before the production began since the taking of photos is strictly prohibited once the shows begin. The Muny season has now come to an end until next summer.

The St. Louis skyline is even more impressive as daylight fades. One! Two! Three strikes, you're out at the old ballgame...

Isn't it amazing to see all of the gorgeous colors generated by sunsets?

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
