Fall is here and everyone seems ready for pumpkins, mums and autumn leaves. The only problem is that summer still has its grip on us, so I decorated the front porch for fall in 90 degree weather!
Remember when I met Mary Engelbreit at a local meet and greet (see Merriment)? My favorite produce market carries her line of garden fairies, flower pots, garden flags and doormats. I bought this mat from them in preparation for fall and decided to put a more whimsical spin on the porch this year.

I thought Mary Engelbreit's iconic black and white checks would be a darling ribbon to use in the swag over the front door. Even though my search yielded no results, I couldn't give up on the thought. What to do? I found a Duck brand duct tape they call black and white checkered (is that a word?!), so it made me think.
What would happen if I made my own? I found this black ribbon and...
ran the tape down the center to get what I needed/wanted.
As I used to tell my students, you must be a problem-solver!
Happy fall! I wish you could join me on the porch!
